Who's behind it
Easy Solar is run by two brothers.
Braden is a Software Engineer and green technology geek. He spent his childhood summers wiring up houses alongside his dad and brothers, a family of sparkies, long before he ever wrote a line of code.
Storm is a Master Electrician, Registered Electrical Inspector, and Electrical Training Specialist — a 4th-generation electrical worker with strong practical experience in solar installations and insight into the changing landscape of solar standards and industry trends.
How the numbers work
Easy Solar's estimates are built from real data, not guesswork or marketing figures — drawing on government sources and industry body data covering electricity pricing and install costs.
For the part that matters most — how much sun your roof actually gets — Easy Solar uses satellite imagery and 3D building modelling (via Google's Solar API) to assess your specific roof, rather than assuming every house on your street gets the same sunlight.
How Easy Solar makes money
Easy Solar is free for homeowners to use. When you choose to connect with an installer through the site, Easy Solar receives a fee from that installer for the introduction — the same way a lot of independent comparison services work.
That fee doesn't come out of your pocket, and it isn't reflected by inflating your assessment or steering you toward a bigger system than you need. The assessment you see is generated the same way regardless of whether you ever connect with an installer at all.
