Terms & Conditions
Easy Solar Last updated: 2 June 2026
The short version
These are the rules for using Easy Solar. The important bits:
- Easy Solar gives you estimates and guidance to help you think about solar and EVs for your home. They're a useful starting point, not a guarantee — your real numbers will depend on a proper site assessment.
- We aren't an installer. We don't sell, design, or install anything. If you ask us to, we'll connect you with installers, but any quote or deal you do is between you and them.
- The estimates aren't financial, engineering, or electrical advice. Get a qualified professional to confirm things before you spend money.
- Use the site honestly and lawfully, and the information you give us needs to be accurate.
The full terms are below. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Easy Solar.
1. About these terms
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of the Easy Solar website at easysolar.co.nz and the tools and services we provide through it ("Easy Solar", the "Service").
By using Easy Solar, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of them. If you don't agree, you're not authorised to use the Service.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change materially affects you, we'll give you clearer notice. Continuing to use Easy Solar after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
2. Who we are
Easy Solar is owned and operated by Easy Solar Limited ("we", "us", "our"), a New Zealand company (NZBN 9429053333131). You can reach us at [email protected].
3. What Easy Solar does — and doesn't do
Easy Solar is an information and advisory tool. We use the address and details you give us, data from third-party sources (including Google's Solar API), and our own modelling to produce estimates about things like your roof's solar potential, likely system size, expected generation, potential savings, payback periods, and EV-related guidance.
To be clear about the limits of that:
- We aren't a solar or EV installer, retailer, electrician, or financial adviser. We don't sell, design, install, finance, or service any equipment.
- Our estimates are indicative only. They're based on assumptions — about power prices, your usage, weather, equipment, and the data available for your property — that won't perfectly match your situation. Your actual results will differ, sometimes significantly.
- Our content isn't professional advice. Nothing on Easy Solar is financial, investment, engineering, electrical, building, tax, or legal advice. Before you commit money, get a proper on-site assessment and advice from suitably qualified people.
4. Who can use Easy Solar
You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to provide the property and account information you give us (for example, you own the property or have the owner's permission). Easy Solar is intended for use in New Zealand.
5. The information you give us
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide. If it's wrong or out of date, your estimates will be too, and we won't be liable for that. Please keep your details accurate and let us know if something changes.
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
6. Connecting you with installers
If you ask us to, we'll pass your details to one or more solar or EV installers so they can contact you and prepare a quote.
- We only do this when you ask. Using our tools doesn't automatically send your details anywhere.
- Any dealing with an installer is directly between you and them. We're not your agent or theirs. We don't make their quotes, representations, or promises, and we're not a party to any agreement you enter into with them.
- We don't endorse or guarantee installers, their availability, pricing, quotes, products, advice, or workmanship. You're responsible for your own due diligence before engaging anyone or signing anything.
- Installers have their own terms and privacy policies, which will apply to your dealings with them.
7. Acceptable use
When you use Easy Solar, you agree not to:
- use it for anything unlawful, or in a way that breaches these Terms;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
- copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the underlying code or data, except as allowed by law;
- provide false, misleading, or inaccurate information, or impersonate anyone;
- use the Service if you're a competitor or are "fishing" for commercial information rather than genuinely considering solar or an EV; or
- introduce any virus, malware, or other harmful code.
We may suspend or remove access if we reasonably believe you've breached these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
We own (or are licensed to use) everything that makes up Easy Solar — including the website, tools, text, graphics, branding, and underlying code ("our Content"). Using the Service doesn't give you any rights in our Content beyond viewing and using it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or commercially exploit any of our Content without our written permission.
9. Third-party services and links
Easy Solar relies on third-party services (such as Google's Solar API, analytics, hosting, and email providers) and may link to third-party websites. We don't control those services or sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Any use of them is at your own risk and subject to their own terms.
10. Availability
We provide Easy Solar on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that the estimates or content will be accurate or complete. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
11. Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes:
- our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- our liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other liability that can't lawfully be excluded. Where Easy Solar is supplied to you as a consumer, those rights continue to apply.
We won't be liable for any loss arising from events beyond our reasonable control.
Otherwise, to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we exclude all warranties not expressly set out in these Terms; and
- we won't be liable for any loss of profit, income, anticipated savings, business, goodwill, or opportunity, any loss or corruption of data, or any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Easy Solar, your reliance on our estimates or content, or your dealings with any installer or other third party.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claims, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms, your provision of inaccurate information, or your dealings with any installer or other third party.
13. General
- Changes. We may vary these Terms as set out in section 1.
- Assignment. You can't transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours where doing so won't materially affect your rights.
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we don't enforce a right straight away, that doesn't mean we've given it up.
- No third-party benefit. These Terms don't confer any benefit on, or right to be enforced by, anyone who isn't a party to them.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about your use of Easy Solar.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by New Zealand law, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
If you have a problem, we'd like the chance to sort it out first — please email us at [email protected] and we'll work with you in good faith to resolve it before anyone takes formal steps.
